A personal welcome
At Liam Whaley Pro Center, our goal with rental is simple: make the experience quick, effective, and focused on getting riders on the water.
Tarifa is one of the windiest places in Europe. When the wind is good, riders want to sail, not spend time dealing with gear logistics or transport.
Our team helps you get set up efficiently so you can arrive, collect the right windsurf equipment, and make the most of your session in Tarifa.
Everything in One Place
One of the main advantages of renting at Liam Whaley Pro Center is that everything happens directly at Valdevaqueros Beach. You arrive, get organized at the center, and go straight to the water without moving gear between different locations.
The setup is designed to keep the day simple, comfortable, and efficient for independent windsurf riders in Tarifa.
✔️ Direct beach access at Valdevaqueros
✔️ Reserved free parking near the center
✔️ Changing rooms and warm showers
✔️ Chill-out area between sessions
✔️ Compressor area for gear setup
✔️ ION wetsuits, helmets, harnesses, and buoyancy vests available with rental
✔️ Some accessories can also be rented separately
✔️ Storage lockers available on request, subject to availability
Why Renting Gear in Tarifa Makes Sense
Tarifa is a place where conditions can change fast, and that is part of what makes riding here so special. On the right day, having the wrong setup can mean spending more time adjusting than sailing.
Renting at Liam Whaley Pro Center gives riders more flexibility on the water, less travel hassle, and a setup that matches the day instead of the bag they arrived with.
✔️ Change wing size during the day as conditions shift
✔️ Change board volume when needed according to the wind and the session
✔️ Ride with gear selected for the actual wind, not a fixed travel setup
✔️ Avoid flying with oversized equipment bags
✔️ Travel lighter and simplify the whole trip
✔️ Spend more time sailing and less time managing gear logistics
✔️ If conditions change, riders can also explore different disciplines at the Pro Center
Not every day in Tarifa is the same. Some days are strong, some lighter, and some may not be suitable for windsurfing. Renting allows riders to adapt their sessions to the forecast, and even explore other disciplines available at the center when conditions change

How Windsurf Rental Works
Windsurf rental at Liam Whaley Pro Center is designed for independent riders who can manage their session safely in Tarifa’s conditions. When you arrive, the team will first confirm your riding level and help you choose the right setup for the day.
The process is simple and organized:
✔️ The team confirms that you can ride independently, return to your starting point, and control the board and sail safely in the conditions of the day
✔️ If needed, they may do a quick level check before approving the rental
✔️ Once your level is confirmed, the team helps you choose the right sail size and board volume for the conditions
✔️ Wetsuit, harness, helmet, and buoyancy vest can be included if needed
✔️ You collect your gear at the center and prepare your setup on the beach
✔️ The team can assist with final adjustments before going on the water
✔️ During the session, riders are expected to stay within the area indicated by the team and not leave equipment unattended on the beach
If a rider is not yet fully independent for the conditions of the day, the center will usually recommend a lesson or refresher session before continuing with rental.
What Kind of Windsurf Equipment Can You Rent
Windsurf rental at Liam Whaley Pro Center is built around a Duotone windsurf quiver designed to cover different riding levels, wind strengths, and types of sessions. Instead of working with one fixed setup, the center offers a range of equipment that can be adjusted throughout the day.
The goal is to give riders access to the right board and sail for the conditions, not just what they brought with them. Some setups are more stable and supportive for progression. Others are more reactive and performance-oriented for experienced riders.
The windsurf rental fleet includes:
The windsurf rental fleet includes:
-
✓⃝ Duotone windsurf equipment (2026 quiver)
-
✓⃝ Beginner boards like the Viper HD (higher volume for easier starts and more stability)
-
✓⃝ Intermediate and advanced boards such as:
- Grip 3 (84L) → more controlled and responsive sailing
- Ultra Freewave (94L and 104L) → versatile freeride conditions
- Eagle (120L) → more accessible and stable sessions
-
✓⃝ Sail sizes that can be adapted during the day depending on wind strength
-
✓⃝ Setups that can feel more stable, more powerful, or more reactive depending on the rider and the session
-
✓⃝ Equipment selected according to level, weight, and wind conditions, not just availability
One of the main advantages of this setup is flexibility. Riders are not limited to a single configuration. They can adjust their equipment as the wind changes, making each session more efficient and better matched to the conditions.
This creates a rental system that works for different types of riders. Some are looking for control and progression. Others want a more direct and performance-oriented feel. The equipment range allows both.
Sail Sizes, Board Volumes & Equipment Range
The windsurf rental fleet at Liam Whaley Pro Center is designed to give riders access to a flexible equipment range, not just one fixed setup. The idea is to adapt the gear to the wind on the day, the rider’s level, and the type of session.
That range includes different sail sizes, board volumes, and configurations that allow riders to adjust their setup as conditions change, instead of trying to make one setup work for everything.
Sail Sizes Available
The sail range covers 3.4 to 5.7 m², allowing riders to adapt as the wind increases or drops during the day.
The available range includes:
- 3.4 m²
- 3.7 m²
- 4.2 m²
- 4.7 m²
- 5.7 m²
This gives riders access to smaller sails for stronger Levante conditions and larger sails for lighter wind sessions.
Board Volumes Available
The board range is designed to support different stages of riding, from stable beginner setups to smaller boards for more experienced riders.
The available board volume range includes:
- 84L (Grip 3)
- 94L and 104L (Ultra Freewave)
- 120L (Eagle)
- Higher volume boards like the Viper HD for progression and easier starts
This allows the team to match the board to the rider’s weight, experience, and comfort level on the water.
How the Setup Adapts During the Day
One of the key advantages of renting at the Pro Center is flexibility. Riders are not locked into one configuration.
- You can switch sail sizes during the day as the wind changes
- Board selection can also be adjusted depending on conditions and rider comfort
- If conditions change significantly, riders can even explore different disciplines available at the center
The goal is to help each rider use the right combination of sail and board for the actual conditions, so the session feels more controlled, more efficient, and better adapted to the wind.

Help choosing the right setup for the conditions
Some accessories can also be rented separately if needed, which makes it easier for riders who already travel with part of their own gear and only need to complete the setup.
This structure keeps the rental practical and flexible, while making sure riders have access to the essential equipment, the right support before the session, and the main safety elements included in the service.
Rescue Service During Your Rental
At Liam Whaley Pro Center, rescue service is included for rental guests during center operating hours. This support is provided through Sea Rescue and is designed to add safety and practical assistance on the water.
What rescue includes
- On-water assistance in case of real difficulty during the session
- Support if a kite gets tangled or a rider needs recovery
- Coordination between the center and the rescue boat
- Help bringing the rider back safely when needed
Important limits to understand
- Rescue does not replace independent riding ability
- Riders must still be able to manage their session safely
- Riders must stay within the area indicated by the team
- Riders must follow the beach guidance given before going on the water
Board loss
- Board loss is not automatically included as rescue coverage
- Riders are expected to recover their board whenever possible
- If a board is lost, the center can contact the boat and explain the area, but riders should not expect an automatic board search during the session
For riders without full rental
- Independent riders or guests only renting a board or an accessory can purchase Sea Rescue vouchers separately
- Voucher options available
- 1 rescue: €25
- 2 rescues: €40
- 5 rescues: €60 - The voucher must be registered before going on the water
- If a rider does not have rescue included or a valid voucher, the boat can still intervene, but an additional fee may apply depending on the case
Levante and offshore conditions
- In stronger offshore conditions, the center works with direct VHF communication to the rescue boat
- Riders are asked to stay in the area indicated by the team
- If a rider drifts too far or moves out of the intended zone, the team can call the boat and bring the rider back to shore
Operating hours
- Rescue coverage applies while the center is open
- The rescue boat operates from opening time until closing time
- After the center closes, rescue is no longer active through the Pro Center
This system gives riders practical support on the water, clear operating rules, and added confidence in Tarifa’s changing conditions.
The Team on the Beach
One of the strengths of renting at Liam Whaley Pro Center is that riders are supported by a team that works with Tarifa’s conditions every day, helps match the setup to the session, and keeps the rental process practical, clear, and adapted to the day.
Before you go on the water, the team helps confirm your level, choose the right equipment, and organize the setup according to the wind and beach conditions. Communication is direct and experience-based, shaped by daily sessions at Valdevaqueros.
Support and guidance are available in English, Spanish, Italian, French, and German.
The role of the team is not to overcomplicate the process, but to make rental feel more organized, more informed, and more adapted to the day you are actually riding.
Other Watersports at the Pro Center
Liam Whaley Pro Center is focused on more than one discipline, so riders who also want to explore other conditions or try something new can find multiple rental options in one place.
Alongside windsurf rental, the center also offers kitesurf rental and wingfoil rental directly at Valdevaqueros Beach.
More Than a Rental Center
The Pro Center is not only a place to pick up equipment. It is also a meeting point for riders who come to experience Tarifa’s wind and atmosphere from one of the most iconic beaches in the area.
“Tarifa is a place every rider should experience at least once. Not just for the wind, but for what happens around it. People come here from all over the world. Different levels, different backgrounds, all drawn by the same conditions and shared energy.” – Liam
Many riders stay after their session. They share a drink, talk about the wind, and watch the sunset over Valdevaqueros. The school is next to one of the biggest chiringuitos in the area, with other food and drink options nearby, making it easy to stay close to the beach and enjoy the atmosphere.
That is part of the character of Liam Whaley Pro Center. It is not just about gear and logistics. It is about the rhythm of the beach, the people who ride here, and everything that happens around the session.
Booking, Flexibility & Optional Extras
Some parts of the rental are easier to organize in advance, especially during busy periods. This helps riders arrive with a clearer plan, the right equipment already in mind, and less friction on arrival.
