How Wingfoil Rental Works
Wingfoil rental at Liam Whaley Pro Center is designed for independent riders who can manage their session safely in Tarifa’s conditions. When you arrive, the team will first confirm your riding level and help you choose the right setup for the day.
The process is simple and organized:
✔️ The team confirms that you can ride independently, return to your starting point, and manage the equipment safely in the conditions of the day.
✔️ If needed, they may do a quick level check before approving the rental
✔️ Once your level is confirmed, the team helps you choose the right wing, board, and foil setup for the conditions
✔️ Wetsuit, helmet, and buoyancy vest can be included if needed
✔️ You collect your gear at the center and use the compressor area to get ready
✔️ During the session, riders are expected to stay within the area indicated by the team and not leave equipment unattended on the beach
If a rider is not yet fully independent for the conditions of the day, the center will usually recommend a lesson or refresher session before continuing with rental.
What Kind of Wingfoil Equipment Can You Rent
Wingfoil rental at Liam Whaley Pro Center is built around a premium Duotone wingfoil quiver designed to cover different levels of riding, different wind conditions, and different types of sessions. Rather than working with one fixed setup, the center offers a fleet that gives riders access to equipment that feels more appropriate for their level and for the conditions on the day.
The range includes boards for different riding levels, from more stable shapes that support progression and easier take-off to smaller, more reactive boards for riders looking for a more direct and performance-oriented feel. Alongside the board range, the center also offers performance foil setups selected to suit freeride use, progression, and more advanced riding.
-
✓⃝ Duotone wings
-
✓⃝ Duotone and Fanatic wingfoil boards
-
✓⃝ Sky Free boards for riders looking for more stability, easier starts, and a more supportive progression setup
-
✓⃝ Skybrid boards for riders who want a more balanced all-round platform between accessibility and performance
-
✓⃝ Sky Style SLS boards for more advanced riders looking for a smaller, more responsive, and more performance-focused feel
-
✓⃝ Foil setups chosen according to the rider’s level, the wind, and the kind of session planned for the day
-
✓⃝ Setups that can feel more stable, more maneuverable, or more compact and performance-oriented, depending on what the rider needs
-
✓⃝ Equipment that supports different stages of progression, instead of forcing every rider onto the same type of board or foil
This gives the center a quiver that works for more than one kind of rider. Some setups are there to make wingfoiling feel more accessible and controlled. Others are there for riders who already know what they want and are looking for a more refined performance setup.
Wing Sizes, Board Volumes & Equipment Range
The wingfoil rental fleet at Liam Whaley Pro Center is designed to give riders access to a broad equipment range, not just one standard setup. The idea is to make sure the gear can be adjusted to the wind on the day, the rider’s level, and the kind of feeling they want on the water.
That range includes wing sizes from 2.0 to 7.0 m², boards with very different volumes, and foil options that can feel more stable, more efficient, or more performance-oriented depending on the conditions and the rider.
Wing Sizes Available
The wing range covers 2.0 to 7.0 m², which allows the team to adapt the setup as the wind changes through the day.
This gives riders access to smaller wings for stronger days and larger wings for lighter conditions, instead of trying to make one size work for every session.
Board Volumes Available
The board range is built to support different stages of riding, from more stable progression setups to smaller boards for more advanced riders.
The available board volume range goes from 45L to 156L.
This allows the team to match the board more closely to the rider’s weight, experience, and comfort level on the foil.
Foil and Mast Options
The rental fleet also includes different foil setups to cover freeride use, progression, and more advanced riding. These setups are selected to give riders different levels of lift, control, and maneuverability depending on what they need from the session.
The available range includes:
- Front wings starting from around 750
- Larger foil options for riders who want more stability and easier lift
- More compact foil options for riders looking for a faster and more responsive feel
- 75 cm mast options within the fleet
-
This gives the center enough flexibility to build setups that feel more accessible for some riders and more performance-oriented for others.
How the Team Helps You Choose the Right Setup
Equipment is selected according to weight, level, and wind strength, not just availability. Some riders need more volume and a more supportive foil to keep things controlled and efficient. Others are already comfortable on smaller boards and want a setup that feels quicker and more direct.
The goal is to help each rider use the right combination of wing, board, and foil for the actual conditions, so the session feels more natural, more efficient, and better matched to their riding.
What’s Included With Your Rental
Wingfoil rental at Liam Whaley Pro Center includes more than just the main equipment. The goal is to give riders a complete setup, practical support, and a smoother experience on the beach and on the water.

Help choosing the right setup for the conditions
Some accessories can also be rented separately if needed, which makes it easier for riders who already travel with part of their own gear and only need to complete the setup.
This structure keeps the rental practical and flexible, while making sure riders have access to the essential equipment, the right support before the session, and the main safety elements included in the service
Rescue Service During Your Rental
At Liam Whaley Pro Center, rescue service is included for rental guests during center operating hours. This support is provided through Sea Rescue and is designed to add safety and practical assistance on the water.
What rescue includes
- On-water assistance in case of real difficulty during the session
- Support if a kite gets tangled or a rider needs recovery
- Coordination between the center and the rescue boat
- Help bringing the rider back safely when needed
Important limits to understand
- Rescue does not replace independent riding ability
- Riders must still be able to manage their session safely
- Riders must stay within the area indicated by the team
- Riders must follow the beach guidance given before going on the water
Board loss
- Board loss is not automatically included as rescue coverage
- Riders are expected to recover their board whenever possible
- If a board is lost, the center can contact the boat and explain the area, but riders should not expect an automatic board search during the session
For riders without full rental
- Independent riders or guests only renting a board or an accessory can purchase Sea Rescue vouchers separately
- Voucher options available
- 1 rescue: €25
- 2 rescues: €40
- 5 rescues: €60 - The voucher must be registered before going on the water
- If a rider does not have rescue included or a valid voucher, the boat can still intervene, but an additional fee may apply depending on the case
Levante and offshore conditions
- In stronger offshore conditions, the center works with direct VHF communication to the rescue boat
- Riders are asked to stay in the area indicated by the team
- If a rider drifts too far or moves out of the intended zone, the team can call the boat and bring the rider back to shore
Operating hours
- Rescue coverage applies while the center is open
- The rescue boat operates from opening time until closing time
- After the center closes, rescue is no longer active through the Pro Center
This system gives riders practical support on the water, clear operating rules, and added confidence in Tarifa’s changing conditions.
The Team on the Beach
One of the strengths of renting at Liam Whaley Pro Center is that riders are supported by a team that works with Tarifa’s conditions every day, helps match the setup to the session, and keeps the rental process practical from the start.
Before you go on the water, the team helps confirm your level, choose the right equipment, and organize the setup according to the wind and beach conditions. Communication is clear, direct, and shaped by daily experience at Valdevaqueros.
Support and guidance are available in English, Spanish, Italian, French, and German.
The role of the team is not to overcomplicate the process, but to make rental feel more organized, more informed, and more adapted to the day you are actually riding.
Other Watersports at the Pro Center
Liam Whaley Pro Center is focused on more than one discipline, so riders who also want to explore other conditions or try something new can find more than one rental option in the same place.
Alongside wingfoil rental, the center also offers kitesurf rental and windsurf rental directly at Valdevaqueros Beach.
More Than a Rental Center
The Pro Center is not only a place to pick up equipment. It is also a meeting point for riders who come to experience Tarifa’s wind and atmosphere from one of the most iconic beaches in the area.
“Tarifa is a place every rider should experience at least once. Not just for the wind, but for what happens around it. People come here from all over the world. Different levels, different backgrounds, all drawn by the same conditions and shared energy.” – Liam
Many riders stay after their session. They share a drink, talk about the wind, and watch the sunset over Valdevaqueros. The school is next to one of the biggest chiringuitos in the area. There are also other food and drink options nearby. That makes it easy to stay close to the beach and enjoy the atmosphere after riding.
That is part of the character of Liam Whaley Pro Center. It is not just about gear and logistics. It is also about the rhythm of the beach, the people who ride here, and everything that happens around the session.
Booking, Flexibility & Optional Extras
Some parts of the rental are easier to organize in advance, especially during busy periods. This helps riders arrive with a clearer plan, the right equipment already in mind, and less friction once they reach the center.

- Some accessories can be rented separately, such as leash, helmet, or wetsuit.
- Storage lockers are available on request, subject to availability
