A personal welcome
Windsurfing has always been part of Tarifa’s story. For decades, riders have come here to feel the Levante in their sails — strong wind, open water, and space to move.
It was also the first wind sport I ever tried. I grew up watching people rig on this beach, and I learned early that you have to respect the wind before you try to control it.
When you start, it feels direct and physical. It takes patience. You fall. You uphaul. You try again. And little by little, you begin to understand what the wind is doing — and what your body needs to do with it.
That’s where progression really begins.
If this is your first time, don’t worry — everyone starts there.
At the Pro Center, we’ll guide you into windsurfing the right way: clearly, calmly, step by step.
Why learn windsurfing in Tarifa?
Tarifa is often called the wind capital of Europe. Long before newer wind sports appeared, riders were already coming to windsurf on this same beach for that reason.
That reliable wind is what makes learning here feel natural. It allows sessions to stay structured and progression to follow a clear path.
But it’s not only about the wind.
“People come here from all over the world. Different levels, different backgrounds — all drawn by the same wind and shared energy.” – Liam
Where We Teach in Valdevaqueros
Our Pro Center is set directly on the beachfront in Valdevaqueros — right where you’ll be learning to windsurf.
From the school, you step straight onto a wide, open shoreline with plenty of room to learn. With space around you, you can focus on your stance, your balance, and how the sail feels in your hands.
As the wind fills in, you move freely along the coast, practicing your starts and learning to control direction. Our safety boats remain on standby during every session, so you’re never out there alone.
Being right on the beach allows us to adapt as needed. If the wind shifts or you need a different sail or board, you simply come back and we adjust.
If you’re here with family or friends, they can relax nearby in our green beachfront area — with shade and couches — or at Tumbao Beach Bar.
When you finish, you step straight back onto the sand and stay as long as you like.
How our windsurfing lessons work
Each windsurfing lesson begins on the beach. We select the appropriate board and sail size according to your level and the wind conditions of the day.
For beginners, we recommend a minimum of 6 hours over multiple days. This builds a solid foundation. Most students need around four to five lessons to feel comfortable sailing independently in suitable conditions.
Private lessons offer faster progression with direct instructor feedback. Semi private sessions maintain structure and individual guidance.
Windsurfing can feel physical especially in stronger wind. That’s why we focus first on sail control and body positioning. Only then do we increase intensity.
Sessions are organized according to suitable wind conditions. This ensures a safe, structured and progressive learning process.
The goal is to help you develop the skills needed to sail confidently and independently in appropriate conditions.
All lesson packages include full equipment.
You don’t need to travel with gear — everything is ready for you at the Pro Center.
If you’re unsure which option fits you best, we’re happy to help you choose.
Starting your Windsurfing Lessons
What to Expect in Your First Lessons

Day 1 (First 2 hours)
Your first session begins on the beach. You’ll learn the basics of the equipment and board position. You’ll also learn how to control the sail safely.
In the water, the focus is balance and learning to uphaul correctly. Short, controlled rides help you understand how the sail responds to the wind.
The goal is stability and basic control.

Day 2 (Hours 3–4)
You begin sailing in a more consistent line. You work on direction and sail positioning.
Longer runs become possible as coordination improves. You also practice returning toward your starting point.
This stage builds confidence and body awareness.

Day 3 (Hours 5–6)
As control improves, movements become smoother and more efficient. You refine stance and sail handling. You manage wind power more confidently.
In suitable conditions, this phase brings you closer to independent sailing. Progress always depends on wind strength and individual comfort.
Each session builds gradually. It creates a solid foundation for future development.

Our Instructors & the Team Behind It
At the Pro Center, windsurfing is taught with the same standards that define how we approach every sport we practice and teach. Progression is built on control, safety and understanding the conditions.
Our instructors come from different parts of the world. They speak English, Spanish and German. This creates an environment where communication feels natural and precise.
On the water, clarity matters. This is especially true when working on balance, sail control and subtle adjustments that shape your progression.
More than individual performance, what defines us is how we work together as a team. You’ll feel supported on the beach and connected on the water. Our instructors are present, attentive and fully invested in how you develop as a rider.

Happy Students , Our Number One Goal
At the Pro Center, progression is important. How you feel during the process matters just as much.
Windsurfing can be challenging at the beginning. It requires patience, coordination and respect for the wind. That’s why we focus on creating an environment where you feel supported from the first moment on the beach to your last run on the water.
We celebrate small improvements. The first controlled ride. The first successful turn. The moment when balance starts to feel natural.
Our goal isn’t just performance. It’s confidence.
And it doesn’t always end on the water.
Here, people often stay after the session. They share a drink. They talk about the day. They let everything settle as the sun goes down.
Because real progression starts when you stop fighting the wind and begin to move with it.
