My team and I are here to guide you through your first wingfoil lessons in Valdevaqueros, Tarifa — with care, clear instruction, and safety as a priority from day one.

You’ll learn directly in front of our beachfront Pro Center on one of Tarifa’s most open and beginner-friendly beaches. Every lesson includes premium Duotone wingfoil gear, selected and adjusted to your level before you enter the water.

Whether it’s your first time on a Wing or you’re here to refine your riding, we’ll guide you with focus and care — so you can experience that moment when everything clicks and wind, water, and control finally come together.

A personal welcome

Former World Champion Liam Whaley

The first time I tried wingfoiling was during a shoot in Madagascar. What stayed with me wasn’t the challenge — it was the feeling.

You hold the power of the wing in your hands. The board lifts. Suddenly you’re gliding above the water. Everything goes quiet. It feels light, direct, almost instinctive.

What stands out to me most is how accessible it is. There are no long lines or heavy setup to manage. Just you, the wing, and the wind. It opens the door for more people to get on the water in a simpler, more approachable way.

That’s why wingfoiling became a natural extension of what we do at the Pro Center.

But like everything we teach here, it’s not about getting up as fast as possible. It’s about learning with control — understanding the wing, positioning your body, and moving with intention.

That’s where real progression begins.

And that’s what we focus on every day at the Pro Center.

Why learn wingfoiling in Tarifa?

“People come here from all over the world. Different levels, different backgrounds, all drawn by the same conditions and shared energy.” – Liam

Tarifa has long been a world reference for wind sports, and wingfoiling has naturally become part of that story. The consistency of the wind — especially during Levante days — creates ideal conditions for structured learning and steady progression.

Strong, stable wind helps you feel the lift sooner and understand how the foil reacts beneath you. Instead of fighting the elements, you learn to work with them, developing control step by step.

When the conditions support the learning process, progression feels smoother and more natural.

Where We Teach in Valdevaqueros

Our Pro Center is based directly on the beach at Valdevaqueros, one of Tarifa’s most iconic spots. Being right on the sand allows us to read the conditions in real time and adapt the session accordingly.

Valdevaqueros offers the open space and water depth that wingfoiling requires. There’s room to fall, reset, and try again — an essential part of learning to balance on a foil.

The wide shoreline and steady wind create an environment where you can practice without pressure, building confidence gradually through repetition and control.

How our wingfoiling lessons work

Every lesson begins with a clear evaluation of your level and the conditions of the day. We select the right board volume, foil size, and wing to match your weight and experience, so the setup supports your progression from the start.

Sessions last between one and a half to two hours and follow a structured progression, whether private, semi-private, or group. The focus is always the same: clear guidance, steady development, and individual attention within a safe framework.

Wingfoiling is built on small, precise skills. Before thinking about lift, you develop wing control, body positioning, and balance on the board. Many students begin to feel consistent glides after several structured sessions — often around six hours of focused practice, which can be completed over a few days — though progress always varies from person to person.

During your session, you stay connected to your instructor through walkie-talkies for real-time feedback, and our safety boat is always nearby. Control comes first. Lift follows naturally when balance and power align.

All lesson packages include full equipment.
You don’t need to travel with gear — everything is ready for you at the Pro Center.

If you’re unsure which option fits you best, we’re happy to help you choose.

Starting your Wingfoiling Lessons

What to Expect in Your First Lessons

Tarifa Kitesurfing Lessons Day 1

Day 1 (First 2 hours)

Your first session begins with understanding the wing. You’ll learn how to position it in the wind, control power with your hands, and move comfortably on the water before thinking about lift. The goal is to feel stable, relaxed, and in control of the basics.

Tarifa Kitesurfing Lessons Day 1

Day 2 (Hours 3–4)

From there, we focus on balance using a stable, high-volume board and a larger foil designed for easier control. You’ll practice short runs, adjusting your stance and weight while keeping the board flat and stable. This is where coordination begins to feel more natural.

Tarifa Kitesurfing Lessons Day 3

Day 3 (Hours 5–6)

As coordination improves, the first controlled lifts begin naturally. The foil may engage for brief moments — sometimes just a few meters — allowing you to feel how the board rises and how to manage height with subtle weight shifts and wing position. With repetition and feedback, those short flights become longer and more consistent, moving you toward smoother glides and greater independence on the water.

Lessons

Courses & packages

We offer structured wingfoiling sessions designed around your level, your pace, and your goals. Whether you’re stepping on a foil for the first time or refining your control, each session is adapted to where you are in your progression.

Lessons are always taught with one wing and one board in use.

Private lessons

One-on-one instruction offers the fastest and most focused progression. With full attention from your instructor, every detail — from wing control to board balance — is adjusted in real time.

Semi-private lessons

Learn with a friend or partner at a similar level. This format combines personal feedback with shared motivation while maintaining a high level of structure and safety.

Group Lessons

For riders who have completed lessons and want to continue practicing with support, supervised sessions provide on-water oversight, safety monitoring, and guidance when needed — without full instruction.

Our Instructors & the Team Behind It

At the Pro Center, wingfoiling is taught with the same standards that define how we approach every sport we practice and teach. Progression is built on control, safety, and a clear understanding of the conditions.

Our instructors come from different parts of the world and speak English, Spanish, and German, creating an environment where communication feels natural and precise. On the water, clarity matters — especially when working on balance, foil control, and subtle adjustments that shape your progression.

More than individual performance, what defines us is how we work together. You’ll feel supported on the beach and connected on the water, with instructors who are present, attentive, and fully invested in how you develop as a rider.

Learning with the Right Gear from Day One

All wingfoiling lessons use premium, beginner-friendly Duotone & ION equipment selected for stability and smooth progression from your very first session. Each lesson includes a complete wingfoil setup — wing, board, and foil — as part of your package.

Because the Pro Center is located directly on the beach, we can adjust wing size or equipment during the session if the wind changes.

All necessary equipment is provided. We prepare and fit your ION wetsuit, impact vest, helmet, leash, and safety gear before you enter the water, so you don’t need to bring anything.

Once you’re riding independently, you can continue progressing with on-water supervision, gear rental, and the option to test Duotone equipment as part of your rental.

Happy Students , Our Number One Goal

Every session at the Pro Center is built around one priority: helping you progress in a way that feels clear, safe, and rewarding.

Wingfoiling attracts riders of all ages and backgrounds. We’ve guided complete beginners and experienced riders alike, adapting the pace to each individual while maintaining the same sporting standards.

What matters most to us is not how fast you lift, but how confidently you understand what you’re doing on the water. Real progression builds satisfaction that lasts beyond a single session.

And it doesn’t always end on the water.
Here, people often stay after the session — sharing a drink, talking about the day, and letting everything settle as the sun goes down.

When students leave the beach smiling — knowing they’ve learned something real — we know we’ve done our job.

Frequently asked questions

Is wingfoiling difficult to learn?

Wingfoiling requires coordination and balance, but the learning process is structured and progressive. With the right setup and guidance, most beginners begin to feel short controlled lifts within a few sessions.

How long does it take to start gliding?

Every rider progresses at a different pace. Many students begin experiencing short glides after several hours of structured practice, as balance and wing control improve naturally.

Is wingfoiling safe?

When taught correctly, wingfoiling is a controlled and structured sport. We use beginner-friendly equipment, clear progression steps, radio communication, and constant supervision to ensure a safe learning environment.

Do I need previous experience in water sports?

No previous experience is required. However, comfort in the water helps. Our lessons are adapted to complete beginners as well as riders coming from other disciplines.

Is wingfoiling easier than kitesurfing?

Both sports require coordination and proper instruction, but they feel different. Wingfoiling places the power directly in your hands and does not involve long lines, which some students find more intuitive in the early stages. Kitesurfing offers a different dynamic and range of possibilities once mastered. The best choice depends on the experience you’re looking for.

What wind conditions are best for learning?

Steady wind creates ideal learning conditions. Tarifa’s consistent wind patterns allow us to choose the best moment of the day for your session.

What should I bring?

Just bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, and water. All technical equipment — including wetsuit, impact vest, helmet, wing, board, and foil — is provided.

Can I rent equipment after my lessons?

Yes. Once you’re riding independently, you can continue practicing with gear rental and on-water supervision. We also offer the possibility to test Duotone equipment as part of your rental.
