Duotone Kite Demo Day in Tarifa: Testing the Latest Kites at Liam Whaley Pro Center
If you want to understand how the latest Duotone kites feel in real Tarifa conditions, a demo day is one of the best ways to see it.
In this video, Liam Whaley heads down to Liam Whaley Pro Center in Valdevaqueros for a Duotone demo day with Duotone Spain. The idea is simple: bring the newest Duotone kites and boards to the beach, set up the gear in front of the center, and let riders test different setups in the same conditions they would actually ride.
This was not a perfect “strong Levante and huge jumps” kind of day. It was a lighter Poniente session, with wind from the west, side-onshore direction, some chop, and enough breeze to test bigger kites like the 12m Rebel D/LAB and the 13m Evo D/LAB.
That is what makes the video useful. You see the gear in normal Tarifa conditions, not just in a polished product shoot.
You also get a feel for what makes Liam Whaley Pro Center different: the beach is right there, the Duotone gear is ready, the local crew is around, and the session happens directly in front of the center.
What will you see in this Duotone demo day video?
This video shows a Duotone kite demo day at Liam Whaley Pro Center in Tarifa.
You will see Liam arrive at the center, check the conditions, talk through the wind direction, and choose his setup for the session. Duotone Spain has a demo tent set up on the beach with the latest gear, giving riders the chance to test new kites and boards in front of the Pro Center.
The main gear Liam tests in the video includes:
-
Duotone Rebel D/LAB 12m
-
Duotone Evo D/LAB 13m
-
Duotone Team Series Big Air board
-
Duotone Woo handle
-
A selection of the latest Duotone kites and boards available at the demo
The video is also a good snapshot of a real Tarifa riding day. The wind is Poniente, lighter than Levante, and Liam picks his gear around that.
If you are coming to Tarifa and thinking about renting gear, testing Duotone equipment, or working out which kite size fits the conditions, this video gives you a real beach-level look at how those choices get made.

What happens at a Duotone demo day in Valdevaqueros?
A Duotone demo day is a chance to try new gear directly on the beach, with support from people who know the equipment and the local conditions.
In this video, the demo takes place right in front of Liam Whaley Pro Center in Valdevaqueros. Duotone Spain brings the latest quiver to the beach, the gear is laid out under the tent, and riders can see, touch, and test different kites and boards.
That matters because kite gear is not only about specs. A kite can look perfect on paper, but the real question is how it feels in your hands, in your wind, and in the kind of water you actually ride.
In Tarifa, that means testing gear in conditions that can change quickly. One hour can feel light and playful. Another can build into something stronger.
⤷ Poniente and Levante also feel completely different, and reading them on the Tarifa wind forecast — or learning how to read Windguru — is its own skill, so having local guidance makes the test more useful.
At the Pro Center, the demo day runs inside the normal beach scene. Riders, instructors, pro athletes, the Duotone team, and visitors share the same space.
⤷ A demo day has the same community feel as the kitesurfing events that run in Tarifa through the year. Some test gear. Some ride. Others watch from the beach and get a feel for the equipment before they pick what to try next.
You are not guessing from a catalog. You see how the gear behaves in front of you, in the wind you are about to ride.

What were the conditions like in Tarifa during the session?
The session runs in light Poniente, the westerly wind in Tarifa. In the video, Liam explains it is blowing side-onshore and usually comes in softer than Levante. That makes the riding more easygoing, but it also means less power.
Instead of reaching for a small kite, Liam talks about using bigger sizes, around 12m or 13m. That gives you a good clue about the day. The wind is enough to ride and have fun, but not strong enough for the kind of powered Big Air session Tarifa is famous for when it really turns on.
The water is also a little choppy. That is normal in many Valdevaqueros sessions, especially when the wind has texture and the beach is active.
For a rider visiting Tarifa, that matters. Not every session is about extreme wind. Some days are lighter and more technical, better for feeling how a kite climbs, floats, turns, and carries you through the soft patches.
That is why Liam starts on the Rebel D/LAB 12m and later moves up to the Evo D/LAB 13m. The full reasoning is in the next section. The short version: you read the wind, then pick the kite that fits it.

What Duotone gear did Liam test?
Liam tests two main kite setups in the video: the Rebel D/LAB and the Evo D/LAB.
He starts with the 12m Rebel D/LAB, paired with the Duotone Team Series Big Air board. He calls the Rebel D/LAB one of his favorite kites in the Duotone range, and he uses it as the first setup for the session.
The Rebel line is known for hang time and jumping performance, and in the video Liam uses it in light wind to see what he can get out of the conditions. The session is not fully powered, but you can still see why he chooses that kite first: it gives him lift, float, and enough structure to make the most of a lighter Poniente day.
He also shows the Duotone Woo handle, a new feature that allows the Woo device to sit inside the handle and be turned on and off from there. For riders who care about jump tracking, that kind of detail makes the setup cleaner and easier to use on the water.
Later in the video, after the Rebel D/LAB session, Liam moves to the 13m Evo D/LAB. The next section breaks down why, and what the bigger kite gave him in the light wind.
Rebel D/LAB vs Evo D/LAB in light wind: what does the video show?
This video is not a full technical comparison between the Rebel D/LAB and the Evo D/LAB, but it does show how Liam approaches both kites in a real light-wind Tarifa session.
He starts with the Rebel D/LAB 12m because it is one of his favorite kites in the Duotone range. The setup gives him a familiar platform for jumps, hang time, and Big Air-style riding, even though the wind is not especially strong.
After riding the Rebel, he describes the session as fun but says the wind is really light, especially on the inside. That is when he decides to try the 13m Evo D/LAB.
The switch tells you something important: in lighter conditions, even a small change in kite model or size can affect the session. A bigger kite can help you stay powered, carry speed, and search for more float when the wind is not delivering much pressure.
For a rider visiting Tarifa, this is one of the biggest reasons to rent or test gear from a beach center instead of locking yourself into one setup for the whole trip. If the wind shifts, the right kite can change too.
A day that starts on a 12m might become better on a 13m. A stronger day might move you down to a smaller kite. The best choice depends on your level, your weight, the wind, and the kind of riding you want to do.
Can you test or rent Duotone gear at Liam Whaley Pro Center?
Yes. You can ride the latest Duotone gear straight off the beach at Liam Whaley Pro Center in Valdevaqueros, without traveling with a single kite bag.
That is one of the main advantages of riding from the center.
⤷ If you are planning a trip to Tarifa, the gear on site is one less thing to pack and fly with. You arrive at the beach, check the conditions, speak with the team, and choose the setup that makes sense for the day.
The Pro Center offers gear for kitesurfing, wingfoiling, and windsurfing, so it works for riders who want to stay flexible during their trip. If the wind is better for kite, you can kite. If you want to try another discipline, the center has options for that too.
For kitesurfers, having Duotone gear on site is especially useful in Tarifa because the wind can vary a lot. Levante can be strong and intense. Poniente can be softer, more playful, and sometimes better for bigger kites. A beach-based rental setup gives you more room to adapt.
If you are not sure which kite size or board setup to use, the team can help you choose based on your level, weight, and the conditions of the day.
That is the same logic you see in the video. Liam does not just pick a kite and push through. He reads the wind, tries one setup, then switches when he wants something different from the day.

Who should watch this video?
This one is for a few kinds of rider. If you already kite and want a real look at the Rebel D/LAB and Evo D/LAB in Tarifa conditions, you get that here. If you are planning a trip, you see what a lighter Poniente day looks like at Valdevaqueros, worth knowing, because Tarifa is not always the extreme-wind machine people picture.
It is also useful if you are weighing up a rental. The session shows why having different sizes on hand matters more than owning the one perfect kite. And if you just follow Liam's riding, it is a relaxed look behind the scenes: him testing gear at his own center, the local crew around, the session right out front.

Arriving at the Pro Center for the Duotone demo day
What's up, brother? It's been a while since I've been in front of the camera, but today is going to be a cool day.
We're going down to my Pro Center. Liam Whaley Pro Center and Duotone Spain are doing a little demo day.
They've got all of the latest gear, all of the newest Duotone quivers for everyone to go to the beach and test out.
We're going to have a session in front of the center. I'm going to be testing out a few of the different Duotone kites and boards.
So come join us. It's going to be a nice day.
Meeting the crew on the beach
Hey, look at you, bro. So much flow, so much style. How are you?
Good.
Good, man. You have to come for the Duotone demo.
Yeah, I know. I'm here for this.
You're on the wrong brand, bro.
We've got Noah over here, pro rider, and he told me he's going to do some tricks for the vlog today. Let's see if we can do some shows.
He thinks we think he's one of the best strapless riders, but he has to prove it.
Let's see if the conditions are good enough today.
Poniente wind and the beach setup
All right, so this is the setup.
Today we have wind blowing from the west. This is Poniente. It's like a side-onshore wind, and it's a lot less strong than Levante.
So the conditions are going to be a lot more playful, probably for like 12 or 13 meter.
But we've got the Duotone demo tent right here, all the gear. So we're going to see if we can have some fun here in front and give you guys some information about the latest gear.
Starting with the Rebel D/LAB 12m
This is today's setup: the D/LAB Rebel 12m, one of my favorite kites in the Duotone range.
We're going to start things off with this kite.
And we have the Team Series Big Air board, also one of my favorite boards.
We've got the new Woo handle by Duotone, where you can actually put your Woo into the bottom of this handle and then turn it on and off from here.
So it's a pretty cool new feature that Duotone have come up with.
We've got all the gear and a little bit of idea.
Talking favorite Duotone setups
Which kite are you going to be trying today? What's your favorite Duotone setup?
I'd say my favorite one is definitely the Rebel SLS there. So I'm just going to go for this one again and hopefully the wind picks up a little bit as well.
Have you got some go-to light-wind tricks?
I have some, yeah, like double backs, stuff like that. Easy tricks kind of day.
Today is not the day. But maybe I see you with a circle as well.
Maybe you can teach me. I'll try a front roll maybe.
First session on the Rebel D/LAB
All right, we're going to give it a go on the 12m Rebel D/LAB.
Feels pretty good. It's not the strongest. A little bit choppy, but we're going to see what we can do and then we'll switch up the gear and try some different setups.
Switching to the Evo D/LAB 13m
Okay, that was a fun little session on the Rebel D/LAB.
The wind is really light, especially here on the inside. So I'm going to try out the 13m Evo D/LAB to give it a try and see if I get a little more hang time.
So let's get it.
Final wrap-up from the demo day
All right, guys. That's a wrap for the day.
We had a super fun time testing out all of the new Duotone gear.
I tried out the Rebel D/LAB and the Evo D/LAB, 12 and 13 meter.
They've got amazing hang time, really good light-wind kites.
We had some fun with a few of the pro athletes.
And if you guys are in Tarifa and you want to test out some of the new gear, stop by my center.
We've got all of the latest stuff: windsurfing, wingfoiling, and kitesurfing.
We've got you covered.
So come check us out, and I hope you guys enjoyed.
Peace.
Bonus moment
You have to send me the model of these sunglasses. I like them.

Summary: why this Duotone demo day matters if you are riding in Tarifa
This video is a good example of what makes gear testing in Tarifa useful.
The conditions are real. The wind is not perfect. It is a lighter Poniente day, with side-onshore wind and some chop. Liam starts on the 12m Rebel D/LAB, then switches to the 13m Evo D/LAB to look for more hang time. That is exactly how good gear choice works: you read the beach, test the setup, and adapt.
For a rider visiting Tarifa, that is one of the biggest reasons to ride from a beach-based center. You choose gear for the conditions actually in front of you, not the conditions you pictured before the trip.
The wind in Tarifa will be different next week, the same way it has been for as long as anyone has ridden here. The gear that fits it changes too. That is the whole point of testing before you commit.
